5th Annual Back-to-School Drive
Let's make sure that every student in our community has the supplies they need for school this fall
A backpack stuffed with new school supplies fills students with excitement and anticipation about the school year ahead. It represents a fresh beginning for new knowledge, new opportunities, and new friends.
Access to school supplies also facilitates learning and nourishes creativity. Three-ring binders, lunch boxes, pencils, pens, highlighters, dry-erase markers, scissors, Post-It notes, paper, index cards, and much more. Having these school supplies helps make for a successful start to the new academic year.
The Huntington Backpack Index shows that families spend about $230 annually for school supplies. For some families in our community, the cost of new school supplies is just one more financial challenge. Let's help them!
In partnership with local schools and housing programs, Kids Backing Kids is holding its 2nd Annual School Supplies Drive to make sure that all students have the school supplies they need for the fall.
Last summer, thanks to your generosity, Kids Backing Kids delivered over 150 school backpacks to students in need. This year, the need is even greater - we have over 200 students in all grades who cannot afford the cost of a new backpack and schools supplies.
We are asking you to join us in helping these students.
Please consider sponsoring one or more students for the KBK School Supplies Drive.
There are two ways to be a sponsor:
-
KBK will provide you with a list of school supplies and a backpack for each student that you sponsor. You purchase the supplies (about $60 to $75 per student) and put them into the backpack(s). A KBK youth volunteer will pick up the backpack(s) on August 25-26 (or earlier, if you won't be around on those dates).
OR
-
Sponsor one or more students by donating money via our website ($75 per student, although any amount will help). A KBK volunteer will do the shopping and stuff the backpack(s) on your behalf.
Thank you in advance for helping us to reach our goal of providing new backpacks filled with school supplies to over 200 children in our community.
